‘A Study in Sherlock: Uncovering the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection’
This award winning exhibition builds on the international collection bequeathed to Portsmouth by Richard Lancelyn Green. The gallery offers a superb exploration of the life of Conan Doyle.
This exhibition showcases many of the fantastic items including unique photographs, production posters and letters from the influential and the famous of Victorian and Edwardian society.
The exhibition's displays explore the life of Arthur Conan Doyle and the creation of Sherlock Holmes. It features a range of interactive displays, a ‘new’ Sherlock Holmes mystery, and narration by Stephen Fry, the Patron of the collection. There are also items from the spiritualist material held within the Lancelyn Green Bequest.
The exhibition is open at Portsmouth City Museum, Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays with free access for all..
Closed 24 - 26 December and 1 January.
April - September 10am-5.30pm.
October - March 10am-5.00pm.
Last admission 30 minutes before closing time.
Museum shop closes 15 minutes before closing time.
