Treasure of the Month - March 2015
"Riversdale", Kent Road, Southsea
'Riversdale' is the former home of Dr John Ward Cousins, who was a friend and colleague of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle when he lived in Portsmouth. Dr John Ward Cousins was the senior surgeon at Portsmouth Royal Hospital, and he was also one of the founders (and the permanent Honorary Secretary) of the Portsmouth Literary and Scientific Society. Conan Doyle was also a member of this Society, and twice gave talks to the members.
